If there is an attack in the United States, the blame will be immediately cast upon All-CIA-Duh and if there is no attack, the Bush Administration can claim that it is for their successful "War on Terror" efforts.

Osama Tape Analyzed For Clues To His Whereabouts

Osama bin Laden's warning this week about an upcoming attack on the United States answered at least one question about the al Qaeda leader: He is still alive, or at least was until very recently.

But it opened a new inquiry by counterterror officials who are analyzing the bin Laden audiotape for clues about when and where it was made, and, most importantly, whether it sends a signal to carry out his threat.

Intelligence analysts were scrutinizing the recording for any clues, including certain words and phrases, that might be a signal for the terror network's members or followers. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.

The Homeland Security Department said it had no plans to raise the nation's terror threat-alert level and no reason to believe an attack was imminent.

"We, of course, have been very concerned about the threat of terrorism, generally, since the attacks of 9/11," Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said. "And obviously we expect the American people to live their lives as normally as possible."

The audio recording was the first public statement by bin Laden since December 2004. That is the longest stretch the terror leader has been publicly quiet since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Authorities would not say whether the recording indicates anything about bin Laden's whereabouts or health.

A counterterror official said analysts believe the tape appears to have been recorded since December, although it was not clear how recently, or if it was in response to U.S. missile strikes in Pakistan last week that Pakistani authorities said killed four senior al Qaeda operatives.

Bin Laden Threatens Attacks, Offers Truce

In the tape, bin Laden spoke in a soft voice, as he has in previous recordings, but his tone was flatter than in the past and had an echo, as if recorded indoors. He presented his message with a combination of threats, vows his followers can fight forever and a tone of reconciliation, insisting he wants to offer a way to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He even recommended a book for Americans to read — "The Rogue State," apparently a book of the same title by American author William Blum. He said it offers the path to peace — that America must apologize to victims of the wars and promise never to "interfere" in other nations — though it was not clear if these were conditions for the truce.

Bin Laden said he decided to make a statement to the American people because he said President Bush was pushing ahead despite polls which showed "an overwhelming majority of you want the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq."

He said the Bush administration was lying about victories in the Iraq war. Bin Laden insisted the insurgents will eventually win the conflict, which he said is only strengthening the cause of the "mujahedeen," or holy warriors.

Maybe this is a signal that the majority of people will simply believe anything that the TelePrompTer readers of the M$M say as being the ultimate truth, no evidence is needed when mere words will suffice.
